The Hesitant Heiress (The Everstone Chronicles, #1)The Hesitant Heiress by Dawn Crandall

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I won this book for free and though I was not asked to do a review, am offering my honest opinion of the free book.
When Amaryllis is expelled without explanation from the Boston Conservatory of Music she is pulled into a life she has avoided. Soon after her doting aunt joins her to introduce her into society, she meets the one man she’d hoped to avoid. The son of the man who’d gotten her expelled, Nathan Everstone.

Amaryllis must decide if time heals all wounds or if she will run from the life she’s been thrust into. The draw back to the solitude of her music and the quiet life holds great appeal.

I loved this story from page one. I rarely read books in first person, but this one is written so personally. It really feels as if a close friend is telling it. Towards the middle of the book, I wanted to shake my imaginary friend Amaryllis for not seeing what was so obvious to me as a reader. I couldn’t wait to see how Dawn would bring it all together in the end.
