Don’t just bloom where you’re planted, flourish

|

I work in an industry (probably not unlike many others) where it’s easy to get a case of compare-itis. So-and-so just won this award, and so-and-so just hit the bestseller list. It’s easy to forget why I sit here and pour my soul onto the page.

I’ll be frank with you, I’m horrible with this. I’ve been really guilty of wishing, hoping, dreaming, planning… It takes me away from what God wants me to be doing, which is writing. When I get so caught up in the should-have-beens, I miss the blessings right in front of me.

I’ve been given an amazing gift. I can’t sing on the worship team, and my patience isn’t worthy for children’s ministries. I can’t lead a team on a missions trip, but I can meet people right where they live, in their quiet moments. I can minister to them through words.

I used to be in Mary Kay a long time ago, but one thing I remember from those days was a quote my director gave me,

“I may not make my goals when I plan to, but I always make my goals.”

You see, I don’t need to compare myself to anyone else, but me. As long as I’m listening to the One driving, then I’ve got the right goals. I may not complete them in my time, but I’ll complete them in His. Then I will bloom.

    Blessings~

    1. Exactly, close your eyes, breathe, and be thankful for what you have. The Lord isn’t going to trust you with more until you show good stewardship with what He’s already given. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. 🙂

    1. It’s so easy to do. I wish I had blinders sometimes. 🙂

Definitely good words to live by.

    1. Thank you. It’s definitely something I still wrestle with.
